Please tell us about the StaRN Program.
The Specialty Training Apprenticeship for Registered Nurses (StaRN) program is a unique apprenticeship opportunity to meet a critical need for specialty nurses that is facilitated by HealthTrust Workforce Solutions. It is innovatively designed to provide intense post graduate training to newly licensed nurses. The intensive 13-week program combines classroom instruction, a robust simulation experience and hands-on clinical training, done at the hiring facility. Upon completion, the nursing graduates are equipped with knowledge, skills, certifications, familiarity with the facility and staff, exposure to the hospital’s EMR and actual work experience in their unit through preceptorship. The program originally began in 2014 with a focus on MedSurg, Tele and ICU specialties and has since expanded to include Womens Services, Behavioral Health, OR, ED, PICU, NICU, Case Management, Cardiac Cath Lab and now StarTech for patient care technicians. In 2021 HealthTrust Workforce Solutions is on track to have instructed nearly 30,000 learners since the program began in 2014.
