We are currently looking for a Utilization Review Clinician.
Job Description: Applicant should be a clinician; licensed (LICSW, LCSW, LMHC, RN) or non-licensed but masters prepared (MSW)
24 hours per week - Monday-Friday Hours can be flexed based on utilization review needs of behavioral health department Requires participation in a daily 9:45am call with the Behavioral Health Team to review discharges, admissions, UR needs etc .
Job Summary:
The Utilization Review Clinician will be responsible for maintaining the insurance authorization status of all patients on the Inpatient Psychiatric Unit. This task will involve daily (M-F) contact with insurers to obtain ongoing authorization for the treatment of patients on the unit. The Utilization Clinician will work closely with the Psychiatry and Social Work Staffs on the unit to obtain the data necessary to perform the continuing care reviews.
Job Functions: 1. Daily maintenance of the insurance authorization status of all patients.
• Establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with third party payors.
• Close collaboration with the Psychiatry and Social Work departments to ensure that the UR process is effective and complete.
• Daily attendance at Treatment Team meetings to ensure communication of clinical and administrative information.
• Work collaboratively with the Administrative team to address policy and program changes.
• Obtain authorization for all patients on the medical service who require it for admission to the Psychiatry Unit.
• Maintains and supports patients rights to care, privacy and respect.
• Other duties as assigned from time to time.
• Compiles UHC data on a regular basis to assure compliance
Minimum Qualifications:
• Education
• Bachelors Degree required
• Experience
• At least 5 years of experience in Utilization Review
• Licensure and/or Certification
• A state issued license in the Mental Health Field (LSW, LSWA, LICSW, LMHC)
• Skills
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English.
• Computer skills required.
• Ability to maintain confidential information.
• Excellent clinical and evaluative /diagnostic skills
• Able to work collaboratively in a fast paced, rapidly changing environment
• Thorough knowledge of the practice of Utilization Review in a Mental Health setting
• Familiarity with the insurance industry and the policies and procedures of third party payors as they apply to psychiatric illnesses.
