Job Description

RN ER Emergency nurses must have the ability to handle a wide spectrum of medical conditions, maladies, and injuries. Able to handle situations and multi-task efficiently and skillfully while at the same time giving premium care to the patient. Must be able to assess and treat quickly, especially during the onset of acute illness or trauma. Supervise the staff on the acute care floor and provide guidance. 2 years experience as an Emergency Room Nurse. Current licensure in good standing in the state of California. ACLS, PALS, TNCC and CPR certification mandatory. Evaluates all patients brought into the ER and make all efforts to stabilize patients. Answer questions of the patient and family. Provide emotional support/referrals as needed. Regular and constantly monitors patients. Assesses and evaluates treatment plans. Provides medical care to patients who are seriously ill. Monitors life support equipment and attends to wounded patients in an emergency. Responsive to any changes in the patients condition. Notifies and documents patient progress to the physician in an accurate format. Provides guidance and support to family members of critical patients. Responds quickly to changes in patients condition. Updates physician on any change in patient condition immediately. Assesses patients pain levels and administer sedation as prescribed by the attending doctor. Sets up and monitors instruments tracking patients vital signs for changes in status and indications of condition. Observes patients for changes in condition, such as sepsis or shock. Performs suitable interventions. Sets up medical equipment and life sustaining devices. Administers prescribed medication intravenously, orally, through gastric tubes, or by other approved methods. Administers defibrillators and life-resuscitating methods immediately in cases of sudden cardiac arrests. Administers blood transfusion and blood products as necessary. Proficient in IV starts, blood draws, EKGs and interpretations. Treats outpatients for IVFs, medications, or wound care when needed. Triages patients: Sets priorities for the patient in which order the doctor will see them. (Priority is based on patient condition).

RN MED SURG Under the direction of the on-duty Charge Nurse, the RN Med Surg administers nursing care to patients in an efficient, safe and courteous manner using proper nursing procedures. An RN ER/MED SURG is a registered nurse with a basic medical and surgical skill set. Current licensure in good standing in the state of California. Maintains current CPR certification. ACLS required Able to communicate in English both verbally and in writing. Demonstrates organizational ability and time management. Conducts an individualized patient assessment, prioritizing the data collection based on the patients immediate condition or needs within timeframe specified by facilities policy and procedures or protocols. Notifies MD of abnormal findings. Conducts ongoing assessments as determined by the patients condition and/or the facilitys policies & procedures or protocols and prioritizes care accordingly. Develops plan of care that is individualized for the patient reflecting collaboration with other members of the healthcare team. Performs appropriate treatments as ordered by physician in an accurate and timely manner.
