Job Description

  • Number of Beds – 25 bed hospital, 3 operating rooms, 8 SADU bays, 4 PACU bays – all used for pre-op, Phase II recovery, and Infusion center patients.
  • Number of Staff  45
  • Type of staff:
    • Day Shift – (example 1 charge, 3 RN, 2 CNA, and 1-3 sitters) One charge RN for SADU and PACU, 3-5 RNs in SADU, 2-3 RNs in PACU depending on census and age of patients.
    • Night Shift  On call only, this position will share evening and weekend call.
  • Patient Ratios  3:1
  • Type of equipment  IV pumps
  • EMR - EPIC

Unit Description

Surgery Admit and Discharge Unit (SADU)

Must have:  candidates without these skills will not be considered for the role.

  • Previous pre-op, Phase II experience
  • Post op teaching experience, ability to review after visit summaries with patients.

Preferred or nice to have:  candidates with these skills will be considered first.

  • Some PACU experience would be great as well.
  • Some Infusion Center experience would be great also, but will train.

List typical procedures performed on unit(s):

  • Pre-surgery assessment of surgery patients, Phase II recovery, Infusion center patients 

Best personality Fit:

  • Friendly, team player, flexible, quick rapport with patients.
  • Dress Code: Include requirements, but most of all not acceptable attire.
  • Scrub Color - blue, provided by hospital.
  • No clothing under scrubs that can be seen, no jewelry or acrylic/gel nails.

Our new facility was purchased by CHI Franciscan Health and reopened in 2011. With 38 beds, 224 employees and a medical staff of more than 200 physicians, St. Elizabeth reserves 25 of its 38 beds as a Critical Access Hospital (CAH). A CAH is a small, generally geographically remote facility that provides outpatient and inpatient hospital services to people in rural areas. The designation was established by law, for special payments under the Medicare program. To be designated as a CAH, a hospital must be located in a rural area; provide 24-hour emergency services; have an average length-of-stay for its patients of 96 hours or less; be located more than 35 miles (or more than 15 miles in areas with mountainous terrain) from the nearest hospital; or be designated by its state as a “necessary provider.” Hospitals may have no more than 25 beds.
