The NCSBN has created a new, enhanced nursing compact (eNLC).  Colorado has chosen NOT to join the new eNLC.  Effective January 19th, 2018, Colorado will only be a part of the original NLC with the remaining states that have not joined the eNLC.  At this time, that includes:  CO, RI, NM, & WI.  If any of the other 3 states join the eNLC, they will no longer be a part of the compact to which CO belongs.  Due to these developments and the uncertainty about the remaining states in the original NLC, we are strongly recommending that any RN projected to start an assignment and/or be working in the state of Colorado on or after 1/19/18 obtain a single state license to practice in Colorado.  For additional information from the NCSBN on the implementation of the eNLC and its impact, please go tohttps://www.ncsbn.org/enhanced-nlc-implementation.htm or www.nursecompact.com.
