Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) Registered Nurse (RN) Position Overview The Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) Registered Nurse is responsible for providing high-quality care to critically ill patients. The role involves working in a fast-paced environment with a focus on advanced monitoring, critical thinking, and the ability to respond to emergencies effectively. Schedule 3x12 hour shifts (36 Hours) - Day/Night Rotation Rotates every 4 weeks or options for 4 weeks days/4 weeks nights Patient Ratios Estimated patient ratios range from 1:1 to 1:2. Experience Requirements Minimum 2 years of Medical ICU experience is required. Certifications Required BCLS ACLS NIHSS AHA Certifications only Skills Required Proficient in starting IVs Experience with telemetry monitoring Competency with ventilators Preferred Qualifications Previous travel nursing experience Proficiency in the EPIC documentation system Specialized Experience Experience in managing the following conditions is preferred: Multisystem Organ Failure Respiratory Failure COVID-19 Sepsis Post-Cardiac Arrest Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA) Liver Failure Renal Failure Special Procedures/Unit Details Continuous Glucose Monitoring for Hyperglycemia Externalized IV Pumps for COVID+ Patients Special Equipment Knowledge NxStage CRRT Alaris IV Pump GE Cardiac Monitor GE Ventilator Boom Lift in Each Patient Room Parking Options Various parking permit options are available, including monthly and annual permits, with different facilities for surface and garage parking.
