Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) Registered Nurse Job Description We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) Registered Nurse to deliver exceptional patient care in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing nursing care to critically ill patients, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and utilizing advanced technology to monitor and support patient health. Schedule The position offers a schedule of 3 shifts of 12 hours each per week (36 hours total), rotating between day and night shifts every four weeks. Patient Ratios Estimated patient ratios of 1:1 to 1:2, ensuring focused and comprehensive care. Experience Requirements Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Medical ICU setting. Qualifications Certifications Required BCLS (Basic Life Support) ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) AHA Certifications only Skills Required Proficient in starting IVs Experience with telemetry monitoring Competence with ventilators Preferred Qualifications Previous travel nursing experience Proficient in EPIC documentation system Specialized Experience Multisystem Organ Failure Respiratory Failure COVID-19 patients Sepsis management Post-Cardiac Arrest care Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA) Liver Failure Renal Failure Special Procedures and Unit Details Continuous Glucose Monitoring for Hyperglycemia Externalized IV Pumps for COVID+ Patients Special Equipment Knowledge NxStage CRRT Alaris IV Pump GE Cardiac Monitor GE Ventilator Boom Lift in each patient room Parking Options Parking options available include monthly and annual permits for convenient access to secure parking facilities.
