Registered Nurse (RN) Job Description Palliative care focuses on providing relief from the side effects of serious illness. This role will involve managing symptoms for patients undergoing treatment, including uncontrolled pain, severe nausea/vomiting, failure to thrive, and fatigue, with the goal of enhancing their quality of life. Responsibilities Provide compassionate care and symptom management for patients in palliative care. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive care. Monitor patient conditions and report changes in symptoms or needs. Educate patients and families on palliative care options and symptom management strategies. Float to other high acuity medical-surgical units as needed to support staffing needs. Qualifications Minimum of 2 years of acute care RN experience is required. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required. Experience with EPIC electronic health records system is required. Previous travel nursing experience is preferred. Ability to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity is required. Shift Information This position involves night shifts consisting of three 12-hour shifts per week. Flexibility for scheduling may be required, with potential assignments to different shifts based on department needs. Parking and Transportation Agency staff have several parking permit options available for purchase. Monthly and annual permits offer various access levels and costs: WMC Monthly Permit: 24/7 access to the garage. CXS Annual Permit: Access to multiple locations. WB Annual Permit: Low-cost option with shuttle service available. Shuttle services run frequently to assist with transportation to and from parking areas.
