Registered Nurse (RN) Position Summary This role focuses on providing palliative care, emphasizing relief from the side effects of serious illness. The unit delivers symptom management for patients undergoing treatment, addressing challenges like uncontrolled pain, severe nausea/vomiting, failure to thrive, and fatigue, ultimately enhancing patients' quality of life. Key Responsibilities Provide comprehensive care for patients with serious illnesses, focusing on symptom management. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans. Monitor and assess patients' conditions, adjusting care as necessary. Educate patients and families about palliative care options and available resources. Assist with advanced directives and decision-making processes in collaboration with patients and families. Float to other high-acuity medical-surgical units as needed, providing support across various patient populations. Qualifications Must have a minimum of 2 years of acute care RN experience. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required. Experience with electronic medical records systems, specifically EPIC, is essential. Previous travel experience in nursing is preferred. Required to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity as needed. Shift Information Position may involve rotating schedules including days, nights, or a combination of both, based on departmental needs. Shift assignments are reviewed every four weeks, though changes are subject to staffing priorities. Parking Information Agency staff are provided multiple parking permit options.
