Palliative Care Registered Nurse (RN) Job Description This position focuses on delivering compassionate palliative care to patients coping with serious illnesses. The role includes managing symptoms such as uncontrolled pain, severe nausea or vomiting, failure to thrive, and fatigue. The aim is to enhance patients' quality of life while they continue their treatment. Responsibilities Provide symptom management and supportive care for patients with serious illnesses. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care and treatment plans. Administer medications and provide nursing interventions as indicated. Monitor and document patient progress, adjusting care plans as necessary. Support patients and families in understanding treatment options and advance care planning. Float to other high acuity medical-surgical units as needed. Qualifications Minimum of 2 years of acute care Registered Nurse experience required. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required. Experience with EPIC electronic health record system is necessary. Previous travel nursing experience is preferred. Ability to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity levels. Shift Details Night shifts available: 3 x 12-hour shifts. May be scheduled for rotating days/nights depending on department needs. Regular shift assignments are evaluated every 4 weeks, though changes are not guaranteed. Parking Information Parking permits are available for agency staff, including options for annual or monthly payment plans. The various parking options provide access to nearby facilities with shuttle services available during peak times. Additional information regarding parking availability and costs can be obtained through the designated permit vendor. Refund Policy Prorated refunds for unused future months may be available for annual permits. Current and prior month fees are non-refundable.
