Medical Oncology Nurse Job Description We are seeking a skilled Medical Oncology Nurse to provide comprehensive care to patients dealing with a variety of solid tumor cancers. This role offers the opportunity to engage with patients at various stages of their cancer journey, from diagnosis through treatment and end-of-life care. Key Responsibilities Deliver patient-centered nursing care in a dynamic environment. Monitor telemetry and interpret readings accurately. Implement infection prevention protocols and manage patient falls effectively. Provide care for patients with medical-surgical issues in addition to oncology diagnoses. Assist patients and families with transitions in care, including end-of-life planning. Float to other units as required based on departmental needs. Qualifications Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in a hospital setting is required. Must have a current BLS certification. Telemetry monitoring and interpretation skills are essential. Previous experience in oncology preferred but not required. ONS Chemotherapy certification is preferred. Work Environment Our team aims to maintain a staffing ratio of 1:4, but in some cases, ratios may extend to 1:5 based on unit needs. Weekend shifts may vary, and no set scheduling is offered for permanent staff. Floating to other Medical-Surgical Oncology units is expected. WB Annual Permit: Access to specified garages during weekends and holidays. CXS Annual Permit: Multi-location access with 24/7 availability for assigned lots.
