Registered Nurse (RN) Position Overview The Registered Nurse will provide care in an oncology setting, focusing on patients with a variety of solid tumor cancers throughout their treatment journey. The role encompasses care from initial diagnosis through treatment and assists in end-of-life care when necessary. Key Responsibilities Administer medications and treatments according to established protocols. Monitor and assess patients' vital signs and responses to treatment. Implement infection prevention protocols and fall prevention strategies. Provide emotional support and education to patients and their families. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient care plans. Float to other medical-surgical oncology units as needed. Patient Population This position involves providing care to: Adults Geriatric patients Common Patient Diagnoses Care will primarily involve patients with: Breast Cancer Lung Cancer Prostate Cancer Pancreatic Cancer Colon Cancer Esophageal Cancer Encounters for antineoplastic chemotherapy Qualifications Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience required. Oncology experience preferred but not required. BLS certification is required. Telemetry interpretation skills and telemetry monitoring required. ONS Chemotherapy certification is preferred. Additional Details The ideal candidate should be adaptable to variable weekend needs and have the skill to manage patient care in a fast-paced environment with a focus on medical-surgical issues. The staffing ratio goal is 1:4 but may extend to 1:5. Computerized Charting Familiarity with EPIC software is essential for this role.
