Registered Nurse (RN) As a key member of the interdisciplinary team, the Registered Nurse contributes professional and clinical knowledge and skills in the provision and management of care to patients in a Med Surg/Telemetry setting. Shift Notes Start: 1900 36 or 48 hours per week available Floating to other Med Surg/Telemetry units required Every other weekend availability required No on-call requirements Job Responsibilities Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients, including those undergoing various surgical procedures such as prostatectomy, mastectomy, abdominal surgeries, and thyroidectomy. Administer medication and drips, including Heparin, according to the hospital protocols. Manage care for post-operative patients requiring overnight stays. Orientation Dates November 9 November 23 December 7 Winter Holidays Requirement The traveler will be required to work 2 out of 3 winter holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, New Year's Day). There will be a limit of 1 day off request between November 25-29 and December 23-27 for all travelers. Qualifications Minimum of 2 years of Med Surg/Telemetry experience required. First-time travelers are welcome to apply. Ability to float within the same discipline across multiple locations as needed. Active Iowa or compact nursing license required. Current BLS certification (AHA preferred; ARC or US Military certificates also accepted) required. Active NIHSS certification required. Driver's license required. Unit Details Types of Patients/Surgeries: prostatectomy, mastectomy, abdominal surgeries, thyroidectomy, etc. Care for post-operative patients requiring overnight stays.
