Registered Nurse (RN) Job Description As a vital member of the interdisciplinary team, the traveler provides professional and clinical expertise in the management and delivery of patient care. Responsibilities include: Caring for patients undergoing various medical and surgical procedures. Administering drips, including Heparin. Monitoring and managing post-operative patient care, primarily on a general medical/surgical floor. Floating to other medical-surgical and telemetry units as required. Shift Notes Shifts start at 1900, with either 36 or 48 hours available per week. Every other weekend is mandated. Orientation Dates November 9 November 23 December 7 Work Expectations Travelers may be asked to work during key winter holidays and can expect to work two out of the three major holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, and New Year's Day. A limit of one day off request is permitted between November 25-29 and December 23-27 for all travelers. Unit Details The unit provides care for a diverse range of patients, including those undergoing procedures such as prostatectomy, mastectomy, abdominal surgeries, and thyroidectomy. Requirements Minimum of 2 years of Med Surg/Tele experience. Proficiency in using Epic EMR. First-time travelers are welcome. Active BLS certification is required. Active NIHSS certification is mandatory. Must possess a valid driver’s license. A supervisory reference form completed within the last two years is necessary. An active nursing license in Iowa or a compact nursing license is required. Dress Code The dress code for this position includes navy blue attire. PK-38638663
