Registered Nurse (RN) Job Description As a vital member of the interdisciplinary team, the traveler contributes professional clinical knowledge and skills in the provision and management of care to patients. Shift Notes Start time: 1900 36 or 48 hours per week available Float to other medical/surgical telemetry units required Weekend Requirements Travelers are expected to work every other weekend. Orientation Dates November 9 November 23 December 7 Winter Holiday Requirements Travelers will be required to work two of the following three holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, and New Year's Day. There is a limit of one day off request between November 25-29 and December 23-27 for all travelers. Unit Details The unit cares for patients undergoing various procedures including, but not limited to: Prostatectomy Mastectomy Abdominal surgeries Thyroidectomy This is a general medical/surgical floor responsible for post-operative patients requiring overnight stays. Common medications administered include heparin. Required Qualifications 2+ years of Med Surg/Telemetry experience. Experience with the EPIC electronic medical record system. First-time travelers are welcome to apply. The traveler may be required to float within the same discipline across multiple locations. Certification Requirements Basic Life Support (BLS) National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Licensing Requirements Active Iowa or compact nursing license is required. Dress Code Uniform required: Navy blue. Employee Separation Policy Any past employee of the organization, whether full-time or part-time for the float pool, cannot work as a traveler in another market for 12 months. If the individual worked travel within the organization, the separation policy does not apply.
