Registered Nurse (RN) Job Description As a member of the interdisciplinary team, the Registered Nurse contributes professional and clinical knowledge and skills in the provision and management of care to patients. This role is essential in delivering high-quality patient care across various units. Shift Notes Start time: 07:00 Float to units 3A, 4A, 5A, and ICU/Flex Weekend requirements: Every other weekend No on-call responsibilities Holiday Requirements Travelers are required to work two of the three major winter holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, and New Year's Day. There will be a limit of one day off request between November 25-29 and December 23-27 for all travelers. Key Responsibilities Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in a medical-surgical/telemetry setting. Administer and monitor IV medication and drips, including heparin, PCAs, epidurals, diltiazem, nitroglycerin, and amiodarone. Accurately read and interpret telemetry strips. Float between different units as needed, maintaining a consistent standard of care. Qualifications Minimum of 2 years of experience in Med Surg/Telemetry nursing. Experience with the mentioned drips is required. Strong competency in reading telemetry strips. Ability to float within the same discipline. First-time travelers are welcome to apply. Certification Requirements Active BLS certification (AHA Preferred; ARC or US Military certificates accepted). Active ACLS certification (AHA Preferred; ARC or US Military certificates accepted). Active NIHSS certification. Licensure Requirements Must have an active Iowa nursing license or a valid compact nursing license.
