Registered Nurse (RN) Job Description As a vital member of the interdisciplinary team, the Registered Nurse contributes professional and clinical knowledge and skills in the provision and management of patient care. Shift Notes Start time: 1900 Available shifts: 36 or 48 hours per week Floating to other Med/Surg/Telemetry units is required Weekend Requirements Every other weekend is mandatory for this position. Orientation Dates November 9 November 23 December 7 Winter Holiday Requirements This role requires working two out of three major holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, and New Year's Day. Please note that only one day off request is allowed between November 25 - November 29 and December 23 - December 27 for all travelers. Unit Details The 8SE unit specializes in various types of surgeries and post-operative care, including: Prostatectomy Mastectomy Abdominal surgeries Thyroidectomy Patients typically require medication management including drips such as Heparin and are primarily in recovery for one or more overnight stays. Qualifications Minimum of 2 years of Med Surg/Telemetry experience is required Experience with EPIC electronic medical records is required First-time travelers are welcome to apply Ability to float within the same discipline across local locations may be required Certification Requirements Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA preferred; ARC or US Military certificates accepted) Active National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification License Requirements An active nursing license in Iowa or a compact nursing license is required.
