Registered Nurse (RN) - Med Surg/Telemetry Job Description As a member of the interdisciplinary team, the traveler contributes professional and clinical knowledge and skills in the provision and management of care to patients. The role involves collaborating with various healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care for patients in need of medical and surgical interventions. Unit Details Types of Patients/Surgeries: Prostatectomy, mastectomy, abdominal surgeries, thyroidectomy, and more. Drips Administered: Heparin. Unit Focus: General medical/surgical floor, caring for post-operative patients requiring overnight stays. Schedule and Requirements Shifts start at 0700, with 36 or 48 hours per week available. Every other weekend is required. No on-call duties are expected. The traveler may be required to float within the same discipline across local locations. Orientation and Holiday Requirements Orientation date is set for 12/21. Travelers will be expected to work during two of the three winter holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, New Year's Day). Only one day off request will be permitted between 11/25-11/29 and 12/23-12/27 for all travelers. Qualifications Minimum of 2 years of Med Surg/Telemetry experience is required. Experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems, particularly EPIC, is required. First-time travelers are welcomed. Certification Requirements Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required. Active National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification is required. Profile Requirements Work history detailing relevant experience. Skills checklist specific to the Med Surg/Tele specialty. One supervisory reference form completed within the last two years.
