Registered Nurse (RN) Job Description As a member of the interdisciplinary team, the traveler contributes professional and clinical knowledge and skills in the provision and management of care to patients in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). Shift Notes 12-hour day shifts with start times ranging from 6:30 AM to 10:00 AM. On-call requirements: Every third weekend for either 12 or 24 hours, with potential additional nights weekly. 36-hour weekly guarantee. May be asked to float to the ICU. Weekend Requirements Availability for every third weekend is required. Unit Specifics Patient-to-nurse ratios: 1:2. Staff may float to ICU but will not take ICU patients. They will act as a resource for the ICU staff. Certification Requirements Active BLS (AHA preferred; other certifications accepted). Active ACLS (AHA preferred; other certifications accepted). Active PALS (AHA preferred; other certifications accepted). Profile Requirements Minimum of 2 years of PACU experience is required. First-time travelers are accepted. Completion of a skills checklist specific to PACU is required. One supervisory reference form completed within the last two years is required. Nursys must indicate an active Iowa or compact nursing license. Copy of a current driver's license is required. Orientation Dates The upcoming orientation dates are October 12 and October 26.
