Registered Nurse (RN) - PCU Job Description We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse with a specialty in Progressive Care Unit (PCU) nursing. The ideal candidate will join a busy surgical oncology unit and provide high-quality care to adult and geriatric patients with various diagnoses. Key Responsibilities Provide nursing care for patients with surgical oncology, hepatobiliary, colorectal, and plastics diagnoses. Administer chemotherapy, blood transfusions, and IV antibiotics as per protocols. Manage oncologic emergencies, cytokine release syndrome, insulin drips, and heparin drips. Implement infection prevention protocols and monitor for patient falls. Care for patients in a mixed acuity environment, including both PCU and Medical Surgical patients. Participate in a collaborative nursing team and support patient outcomes. Shift Information This position may involve rotational shifts, including days and nights, based on department needs. Assignments will be reviewed every four weeks; however, changes are not guaranteed and will be subject to staffing priorities. Clinical Experience Requirements A minimum of 2 years of acute care nursing experience. At least 1 year of experience in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU). Patient Demographics Care will primarily be provided to adults and geriatric patients. Special Procedures and Unit Information Chemotherapy Administration Blood Transfusions IV Antibiotics Management of Oncologic Emergencies Required Certifications BLS (Basic Life Support) ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) Preferred Certifications ONS Chemotherapy Certification Charting System The unit utilizes EPIC for computerized charting and patient management. Parking Information Agency staff will have access to various parking permit options, which include convenient 24/7 access to dedicated garages. Additional Information All travelers may be required to float within their scope of practice as needed by the unit.
