Registered Nurse (RN) - PCU Job Description Join a dynamic and fast-paced PCU and Med Surg unit that provides high-quality care to a diverse patient population, including adults and geriatrics. This surgical oncology unit specializes in a variety of patient diagnoses and procedures, offering a collaborative environment for nursing professionals. Responsibilities Provide nursing care to patients undergoing treatment for surgical oncology, hepatobiliary, colorectal, and plastics diagnoses. Administer chemotherapy, blood transfusions, IV antibiotics, and manage oncologic emergencies. Monitor and manage patient care related to insulin and heparin drips. Adhere to strict infection prevention protocols and fall prevention strategies. Assist in handling cytokine release syndrome and other oncological crises. Participate in patient education and discharge planning. Maintain accurate and confidential records using computerized charting (EPIC). Qualifications Minimum of 2 years of acute care nursing experience, with at least 1 year of experience in PCU. Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications are required. ONS Chemotherapy certification is preferred. Additional Information The unit operates on a flexible scheduling model, with staffing ratios aimed at 1:4 but may extend to 1:5 in high-demand situations. Travelers may be required to float within their scope of practice. Shift assignments will vary based on the department's needs, and there are no set or blocked schedules.
