Registered Nurse (RN) Job Description We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join a busy surgical oncology unit specializing in both Progressive Care Unit (PCU) and Medical Surgical patients. This mixed acuity unit focuses on delivering comprehensive care to adult and geriatric surgical oncology patients. Responsibilities Provide high-quality nursing care for patients with various surgical oncology diagnoses, including breast, thyroid, melanoma, hepatobiliary, colorectal, and plastics. Administer chemotherapy, blood transfusions, IV antibiotics, and manage oncologic emergencies. Respond to and manage cytokine release syndrome, insulin, and heparin drips. Implement infection prevention protocols and fall prevention strategies. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and adjust patient care plans. Unit Details Located in a high-volume surgical setting, with a staffing ratio goal of 1:4 (with a maximum of 1:5). All permanent staff are trained in PCU. Flexibility is required, as nurses may be scheduled for day, night, or rotating shifts based on departmental needs. Staff may be required to float within their scope of practice as needed. Qualifications Minimum of 2 years of acute care nursing experience, with at least 1 year in PCU. BLS and ACLS certifications are required. NIHSS certification is required. ONS Chemotherapy certification is preferred. Additional Information The position involves electronic charting using EPIC.
