Registered Nurse (RN) - PCU Job Description We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join a fast-paced mixed acuity unit, specializing in Post Critical Care (PCU) and Medical Surgical (Med Surg) patient care. This surgical floor is known for its high volume and diverse patient population. Essential Responsibilities Provide comprehensive nursing care to adults and geriatric patients with various surgical oncology diagnoses, including breast, thyroid, melanoma, and hepatobiliary cancers. Administer chemotherapy, blood transfusions, IV antibiotics, and manage oncologic emergencies. Implement infection prevention protocols and perform safety assessments to minimize patient falls. Administer and monitor insulin and heparin drips while assessing patient responses to treatment. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure quality patient care and successful discharge planning. Shift Information This position involves rotating shifts, which may include day, night, or a combination schedule based on unit needs. There are no set or blocked scheduling options, with shifts reviewed every 4-week period. Staffing and Work Environment The ideal candidate will thrive in a busy, high-demand environment, with staffing ratios aimed at 1:4, although may extend to 1:5 during peak times. Schedule flexibility is essential, particularly during weekends, as staffing needs may vary. Qualifications Minimum of 2 years of acute care nursing experience, with at least 1 year in a PCU setting. Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS. Preferred certification: ONS Chemo. Charting System Experience with computerized charting systems, particularly EPIC, is preferred. Parking Information PARKING is available through various permit options with multiple facilities providing access. Monthly and annual permits can be purchased, offering varying degrees of access to designated parking areas. Refund Information Prorated refunds may be available for unused months on annual permits. To avoid being charged for the upcoming month, permits should be canceled by 6:30 p.m. on the last business day of the month.
