Registered Nurse (RN) Job Overview We are seeking experienced Registered Nurses to join our team in a busy surgical oncology unit. The unit provides care to both Progressive Care Unit (PCU) and Medical Surgical patients, requiring expertise in a variety of surgical oncology specialties. Unit Information Mixed acuity unit caring for PCU and Med-Surg patients High patient volume with a goal staffing ratio of 1:4, may vary to 1:5 All permanent staff are PCU trained Potential floating required within scope of practice Shift Details This position may require flexibility with scheduling, including both day and night shifts. Specific schedules will be determined based on departmental needs, with assignments reviewed every four weeks. Patient Demographics Adults Geriatrics Patient Diagnoses Include Surgical Oncology: breast, thyroid, melanoma Hepatobiliary: liver, pancreas, spleen, biliary tract cancers Colorectal: colon and rectal cancers Plastics: reconstructive breast cancer or sarcoma Special Procedures and Unit Focus Chemotherapy administration Blood transfusions IV Antibiotics Management of oncologic emergencies Monitoring and treatment of cytokine release syndrome Insulin and Heparin drips Strong emphasis on infection prevention protocols and fall management Qualifications Minimum 2 years of acute care nursing experience At least 1 year of PCU experience required Current BLS and ACLS certifications required NIHSS certification required ONS Chemotherapy certification preferred Computerized Charting Experience with EPIC charting system is preferred.
