Registered Nurse (RN) Job Summary This position is for a Registered Nurse in a mixed acuity unit that provides care for both Progressive Care Unit (PCU) and Medical-Surgical patients. The unit is busy and focused on surgical oncology care. Responsibilities Provide care for adult and geriatric patients with surgical oncology diagnoses. Manage patient care related to hepatobiliary, colorectal, and plastic surgery cases. Administer chemotherapy, blood transfusions, IV antibiotics, and manage oncologic emergencies. Monitor and facilitate treatments involving insulin and heparin drips. Implement infection prevention protocols and fall prevention measures. Collaborate with healthcare team members to ensure optimal patient care. Float within the scope of practice as necessary. Qualifications Minimum of 2 years of acute care nursing experience, including at least 1 year in a PCU setting. Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS. ONS Chemotherapy certification preferred. Shift Information This position involves rotating shifts, which may include days, nights, or a combination of both, based on departmental needs. The usual shift duration is 12 hours.
