Registered Nurse (RN) - Surgical Oncology We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join our team in a dynamic surgical oncology unit. This position involves providing care to both Progressive Care Unit (PCU) and Medical-Surgical patients in a busy surgical environment. Job Responsibilities Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult and geriatric patients diagnosed with various types of cancers. Administer chemotherapy, blood transfusions, and IV antibiotics as required. Monitor and manage oncologic emergencies, including cytokine release syndrome. Implement infection prevention protocols and strategies for reducing patient falls. Handle critical care needs, including insulin and heparin drips. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes. Qualifications Minimum of 2 years of acute care nursing experience, with at least 1 year in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU). Current certifications in BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS are required. ONS Chemotherapy certification is preferred. Proficiency in computerized charting, specifically with EPIC, is essential. Work Environment Work in a mixed acuity unit with a goal staffing ratio of 1:4, which may extend to 1:5 based on unit needs. Be prepared to float within your scope of practice as required. Scheduling includes rotating shifts, potentially covering days, nights, or combinations thereof, aligning with departmental demands.
