Registered Nurse (RN) Job Description We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Progressive Care Unit (PCU) team. The RN will be responsible for providing high-quality care to patients, adhering to the health system’s mission, vision, values, policies, and procedures. This role involves assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care using age-specific criteria. Key Responsibilities Assume responsibility and accountability for the care of assigned patients during each shift. Utilize scientific knowledge and clinical skills in making patient care judgments. Assist in the planning, directing, and teaching of non-RN staff, including LPNs, Patient Care Technicians, and Unit Secretaries. Qualifications Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience. Experience in post-operative open-heart care. Critical Care experience is highly preferred. Chest tube and other drain management experience. Pre- and post-procedure care for patients with radial and femoral access. Proficient in cardiac monitoring, including the ability to read and interpret cardiac rhythm strips. Advanced knowledge of cardiac and pulmonary abnormalities. Experience with procedures and equipment such as chest tube removal, pericardial pacing wire management, temporary pacemaker management, non-invasive ventilation (NIV) devices, and high-flow oxygen systems. Ability to float to all units within skill level as needed. Certification Requirements Active BLS certification from the American Heart Association. Active ACLS certification from the American Heart Association. Licensure The candidate must hold an active RN license in Ohio or a compact state. Work Schedule This position offers 12-hour day shifts with a guaranteed commitment of 36 or 48 hours per week. Weekend availability is required every other weekend.
