Registered Nurse (RN) Job Description The Registered Nurse is responsible for providing high-quality care to assigned patients during their shift, operating within the mission, vision, values, policies, and procedures of the organization. The RN will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care while utilizing age-specific criteria and scientific knowledge to guide clinical decisions. In this role, the RN will also support and instruct non-RN staff, including LPNs, PCTs, and Unit Secretaries. Key Responsibilities Provide direct patient care by assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care plans. Assist in the planning, directing, and education of non-RN staff. Utilize clinical skills and knowledge to make informed decisions regarding patient care. Manage post-operative care for patients, particularly those with open-heart surgery experience. Monitor and respond to patients’ cardiac conditions, reading and interpreting cardiac rhythm strips. Conduct chest tube and other drainage management, along with handling pacemaker management. Provide pre- and post-procedure care for patients with radial and femoral access. Utilize non-invasive ventilation devices and manage oxygen delivery systems as required. Float to various units as needed, based on skill level and patient care requirements. Qualifications Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience is required. Experience in post-operative open-heart care is required. Critical care experience is highly preferred. Proficiency in cardiac monitoring and interpretation of cardiac rhythms is required. Advanced knowledge of cardiac and pulmonary abnormalities is essential. Experience with chest tubes, temporary pacers, and other cardiopulmonary interventions is required. Active American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required. Active American Heart Association Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification is required. Current Ohio RN license or Compact state RN license is required. Skills checklist relevant to the Progressive Care Unit must be current (within 1 year). PK-38536771
