Registered Nurse (RN) Job Description As a member of the interdisciplinary team, the traveler will contribute professional and clinical knowledge and skills in the provision and management of care to patients in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU). Shift Details Start time: 1900 hours 36 or 48 hour guarantee Every other weekend and holiday required Floating to all inpatient areas and the emergency department is mandatory Unit Details Patient Ratios: 1:4 (may increase to 1:5) Types of patients/surgeries include: CHF, Ablation, Angiogram, TCAR, EVAR, DKA, Stroke, Pacemaker, and Sepsis Orientation Dates November 23 December 7 December 21 Winter Holidays Travelers are expected to work two of the three major winter holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, and New Year's Day. A limit of one day off request is permitted between November 25-29 and December 23-27 for all travelers. Qualifications A minimum of 1 year of RN experience, specifically in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) setting Ability to float within the same discipline across local facilities First-time travelers are welcome to apply Must hold a valid Iowa or compact nursing license Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification Active Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification Active NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification Completion of a skills checklist specific to PCU One supervisory reference form completed within the last two years Driver’s license verification Facility Overview This is a Level 3 Trauma Center located in Sioux City, IA, providing comprehensive care for various medical and surgical conditions.
