Registered Nurse (RN) Job Description As a vital member of the interdisciplinary team, the Registered Nurse (RN) will contribute professional and clinical knowledge and skills in the provision and management of care to patients in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU). Shift Details Start time: 1900 Shift options: 36 or 48-hour guarantee Weekend requirements: Every other weekend Floating required: Required to float within the same discipline across multiple locations No on-call duties Weekend and Holiday Requirements The traveler will be required to work during the winter holidays, specifically during Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, and New Year's Day. A limit of one day off request is permitted between November 25-29 and December 23-27. Unit Details Patient Ratios: 1:4 (can increase to 1:5) Floating required to all inpatient and emergency department areas Common patient conditions include: Congestive Heart Failure (CHF) Ablation Angiogram TCAR (Transcarotid Artery Revascularization) EVAR (Endovascular Aneurysm Repair) Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA) Stroke Pacemaker insertions Sepsis Qualifications Minimum of 1 year of RN experience in PCU or similar setting Required to float to emergency department and all inpatient areas First-time travelers are welcome Profile Requirements Work history Skills checklist specific to PCU - required documentation One supervisory reference form completed within the last two years - required documentation Active Iowa or compact nursing license - required documentation Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification - required documentation Active Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification - required documentation Active NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Certification - required documentation Driver’s license - required documentation Facility Information This position is located in Sioux City, IA, which is a Level 3 Trauma Center.
