Shift: Nights / 7p-7:30a, 12x3, 36 hrs per week, Every other weekend commitment
Length: 13 Weeks

• The Unit 7A is a 21 bed Multi-Specialty Cardiac Tele Unit; as such a variety of patients may be admitted there. Patient population includes adult to geriatric patients with cardiac conditions including CHF, Rule out MI, post MI, new onset/Unstable Angina, Pericardial disease, Cardiac drug toxicity, suspected Pacemaker/ICD malfunction, Post ICD/Pacemaker insertion, Chest pain of suspected cardiac origin, A-fib, Syncope of suspected cardiac origin, treated/stable Aortic dissection, Pre/post Therapeutic Catheterization, Dysrhythmias and patients requiring administration of select continuous infusion of cardiac medications or oral drug therapy for Dysrhythmias. The unit also includes med/surg patients.

• General medical cases such as COPD, asthma, pneumonia, pulmonary embolism, cellulites. Podiatry cases such as diabetic foot requiring IV antibiotics &/or amputation. Chest pain R/O MI-Non diagnostic EKG, negative troponins. This unit has remote telemetry monitoring capabilities. GI cases such as stable GI bleeds, diverticulitis, irritable bowel syndrome flare-ups, small bowel obstruction, and acute pancreatitis. Renal cases such as end-stage renal disease, dialysis initiation, and acute renal failure. Neurological cases including altered mental status, syncope, dementia with acute delirium, transient ischemic attack, with the exception of stroke as VHC has a stroke unit. Neutropenic fevers and anemia, sickle cell anemia with pain crisis. Urology cases such as hematuria, and kidney stone. Acute pain including back pain. Stable diabetic ketoacidosis. Insulin drips are allowed on this unit. Other medical cases not listed here may have special care needs, i.e. chemotherapy, should be reviewed by the responsible persons as listed above.
